Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;

for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.

Made To Worship is the worship ministry of Krys and Melissa VanSlyke. The name comes from the understanding that we as human beings were designed by God to worship. We have the free will to worship whatever we want, but we were originally made to worship the One who created us.

Krystofer James VanSlyke has been involved in worship ministry since he was in high school and has been in full time ministry since 2000. Serving as pastor of devotional arts at Genesis in the Phoenix area, Krys also has a dream to share his music and his passion for worship with others.

January 4th, 2008 It's not that the past year hasn't had anything newsworthy, quite the opposite. Biggest news: our first child! We had a beautiful, healthy daughter in September. That made the rest of the year kinda fade into the background :) I played bass on three full length projects and was a contributing artist and compilation producer on a compilation CD (see discography for details), I'm still plugging away at school, writing, and leading worship at genesis and elsewhere. I'll be leading the Genesis Worship Band at the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon on January 13th and traveling to Chicago to play at Worship: Connection.
I hope I don't let it go as long between updates, but I have a new bigger priority :)
we update the myspace page a little more frequently, add me!

January 15th, 2007 It's been a great week of worship; I was part of a connection retreat for Covenant arts pastors (awesome!), then we had a great Sunday morning at Genesis, then Sunday night I got to worship with my friends Sean and Christian at Scottsdale Bible. This week has me a little bummed out because my wife has taken her mother an a birthday cruise to Hawaii. Whenever she's out of town I try to fill up my time so I don't sit around feeling sorry for myself. Ergo, I'll be playing a short set to open for Shawn Tyler Gray at Rich Aroma Coffee in Queen Creek this Saturday. The show is free and so is the wi-fi. Hope to see you there.

December 18th, 2006 Wow, you get busy and before you know it nine months pass between updates! There has been plenty that has gone on in that time including... a retreat or two, some session and live work, a job shift from strictly music into pastor of devotional arts, going back to school, and some personal growth! I'll spare you all the details, but say it was a great year. Melissa and I look forward to some exciting things in the new year; we'll keep you posted. Thanks for your prayers for our ministry and Merry Christmas!

March 13th, 2006 Things have been going very well... This coming weekend will be our 7th at Genesis, and it's definitely home for us. We've worshipped with my song O, What a Day a couple times now, and it feels like people are making it their own - which is so cool. I'm looking forward to playing bass at Scottsdale Bible this Sunday night; it's been a while since I've worshipped with that crew.
